The story part can be overcome in four or five hours, depending on how much time we waste with collectibles and so on, and the arenas are fine but they don’t excessively extend the life of the game either.įirst Light is currently being distributed exclusively as a digital download on the PlayStation Store, but in a couple of weeks it will also arrive in physical format in stores in our country. They have not improved some of the criticized aspects of Second Son, such as artificial intelligence or some physics bugs, and there are no additional powers or new mechanics that add more variety.
Its expanding nature, however, is evident at all times. In them you must survive waves and rescue hostages, all with a system of time tables to compete with your friends on the PlayStation Network to see who gets the best results and scores. It is here where the great novelty that First Light introduces appears, three arenas (with stone structures that you can destroy by throwing rays or networks of platforms and terraces in which long-distance combat is emphasized) in which we are entrusted with missions that come to be a variation of the popular Horde mode from other games. The story unfolds by interspersing flashbacks (the latter are especially good, and that is where we see the most direct links with Second Son) and sequences in the present with Fetch imprisoned in Cordun Cay. An indirect advantage, however, is that being more compact and small it is difficult to fall into monotony, and the rhythm is quite well balanced.
The stage is also smaller in size, although the city is full of those brand-name collectibles and side quests. When exploring this secondary character, the mechanics are exclusively concentrated around the neon powers, with which the possibilities are somewhat more limited than those of the main game. In the case of PlayStation 4, perhaps the most prominent one so far is inFamous: Second Son, a sandbox developed by the Sucker Punch studio (also responsible for the Sly Cooper saga) visually spectacular and quite funny. It can be argued that the nextgen has not yet brought us too many new experiences compared to what has been seen in recent years, but there are some that are certainly worth it.
